Apex Learning is the leading provider of digital curriculum for secondary education to the nation's school districts. The company's comprehensive, standards-based online courses help schools successfully engage all students in rigorous coursework and prepare them for high school graduation and beyond. Districts are successfully using Apex Learning digital curriculum to meet needs ranging from credit recovery to original credit, from building foundational skills to creating opportunities for advanced coursework, and from distance learning to classroom-based programs.

We are headquartered in Seattle, WA and looking for a talented Small District Account Executive to join our team.  The Account Executive will manage client accounts to achieve maximum account renewal and growth within Apex Learning’s guidelines.  As the primary business contact for a designated list of existing Apex client accounts you will be responsible for renewals and growth in those accounts. Client accounts include both public and private education institutions.  The objective of the AE is to develop excellent relationships and business communications within their accounts, as well as represent client needs and goals within the Apex Learning organization to ensure a renewing and growing client.


 This position reports to the Director of Sales!


  • Manages client business relationships and monitors their satisfaction with Apex Learning.
  • Renews existing accounts of Apex Learning.
  • Understands each account’s funding and decision making cycles; execute on renewal campaigns within each account.
  • Assembles and delivers reports to customers that are valuable and informs the customer about their progress and usage of Apex Learning products.
  • Contacts account and schedules appointments to talk with their decision maker.
  • Identifies and educates key decision makers and other influencers within accounts about programs and solutions available from Apex Learning, based on the accounts needs and challenges.
  • Develops and maintains a high level of knowledge on Apex Learning’s products.
  • Completes and submits on a timely basis all required reports such as pipeline, activity and expense reports.
  • Performs extensive phone selling working out of our Seattle based office.
  • Conducts face-to-face meetings with customers when appropriate or necessary and approved by management
  • Grows and expands each account’s usage of Apex Learning products.
  • Works with operations managers and education consultants using clear communication to monitor the success of Apex Learning implementations, escalating issues to the VP of Client Services as necessary.
  • Keeps up to date with the accounts’ business information and status and document all interactions with the accounts.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Degree from four or two-year college or university, and up to 3 years of sales or customer service experience preferred.            
  • Comfortable communicating and negotiating with school district decision makers.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions.
  • Strong experience MS Office and CRM tools desired.
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated, goal oriented, persistent and a skilled negotiator; works well in a team environment.
  • Extremely organized and high level of initiative.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to pass a Social Security Administration E-Verify check for U.S. work authorization.
